Program not remembering that I disable Malicious Website Protection

Recommended Posts

Hello and Welcome!

We will need a little more info before we can suggest fixes.

Are you running the Premium version?  Does this happen at random or does it happen only after you reboot the computer?

If its after you reboot the computer, then it may have to do with the setting under

Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Uncheck Enable Malicious Website Protection when Malwarebytes Anti-Malware starts

This setting is what keeps putting itself back on Enabled:

Hi:

Until @Firefox returns, that's not the setting to which he referred.;)

See the attached screenshot.:)

Having said that, disabling MWP (Malicious Website Protection) is not recommended, as it is one of the key components of MBAM Premium.
While it's certainly up to you, doing so defeats the purpose of having MBAM Premium and reduces your system protection.
The program will also provide frequent notifications of the fact that this feature is disabled.

A better strategy might be to tell us a bit more about WHY you want to disable that important feature???
We can likely assist you with properly configuring all of the modules to provide you with optimum protection.

Cheers,

I keep getting notifications from simple apps such as Skype, qBittorrent etc.

Effort keep having to manually add the IPs to MBAM.

That's what I suspected.

In that case, MBAM is just doing its job to protect your system.  Disabling MBAM MWP module would be a BAD idea, as it would make your system more vulnerable to malware.  And manually excluding malicious IPs from MBAM would be even more dangerous.

These KB topics explain why the blocks occur and methods to safely deal with them:

Why does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware block Skype?

Why does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware block BitTorrent or other Peer-to-Peer Programs?

Hi.

You need to make it easier to -> selectively disable <-, like a box to check on the popup when a site is blocked = "Add this IP to web exclusions".

Cheers

Hello and Welcome @ralatmby

You have replied to a topic that is quite old, usually we recommend you start a new topic so you can get one on one assistance.

Thanks for the comment, the option to add exclusions easily is already available. When you receive a block, you can simply right click your Malwarebytes Icon in the system tray and then select Add to Web Exclusions as shown in the picture below.
