Malwarebytes and Windows Security Essentials

Recommended Posts

I hope I've picked the right forum to ask this question though simple as it is!;)

I have had Windows Security Essentials on my system for a very long time and for a couple years I've had Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Do I need both? If not is it safe to uninstall WSE?

Hi penney :)

Yes, you still need an Antivirus product (such as Microsoft Security Essentials) when using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, since it's an Antimalware, and therefore it cannot replace an Antivirus solution. See the following link for more information.

This is because different security vendors have different detections, hence why it's more efficient to combine products together (Antivirus, Antimalware, Firewall, etc.) than relying on a single product (Antivirus).

No problem penney, you're welcome :)
