Up front: I know there is another thread, titled: "Unable to deselect certain e-mailnotifications "

The solution provided there doesn't seem to solve the issue (Firefox > options > content > notifications > "do not disturb me" and reboot Firefox)

Whatever I do, I am still getting this "Would you like to receive notifications from this site?" pop-up.

To be honest, this is the only site I am having this problem with. Looked all over whether there are any else I could do to get rid of this popup.

You should be able to turn this off with FF site permissions. When you are connected to the site, there should be an "i"nformation icon at the left side of the address bar. If you click that it brings up a box with the site name and a permissions setting for "receive notifications". You get a drop-down with several choices like "block", "always ask" and "allow". Just pick your preference. New feature with FF 44. I didn't see this suggestion in the previous solution.

All it does is have a popup at the bottom right letting you know about who replies to you in whichever topic you've been quoted in or have followed.

Saying not to receive any alerts/notifications works fine here.
