Hi:

We need a bit more information in order to sort this out.

Quote

Please create an mbam-check log:

  • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
  • Please do not copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your next post, instead please attach the log CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next post.
  • Click on the More Reply Options button, then click on the Browse button to locate your log then click the Attach button to attach the log to your post

Thanks,

Hi:

Your log shows that MBAM is the Free version and that the Trial should have expired on 4/23/2016.

So, it's not clear why the log also shows that malware protection is running. That doesn't make sense.

Perhaps you are seeing system tray notifications that the Trial has EXPIRED???
If you are seeing something different in the program GUI or system tray popups, then it would help if you could please post a screen shot of those (a screen shot of the popups and/or a screen shot of the main program dashboard).

BTW: The log also shows  that there is no antivirus on the computer and there are 100s of items in quarantine, mostly PUPs.
Perhaps the many PUPs and other quarantined items are somehow interfering with the MBAM Trial reversion to the Free version.
So, for starters, you might want to carefully follow ALL these steps carefully to CLEANLY reinstall MBAM: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x.

However, since you have been running without an installed AV or other real-time protection, you might be infected and/or have other malware remnants on the system.
You might want to head over to the malware removal section for a deeper look at the system by one of the trained malware experts.
Here is some information to get you started on that process: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers

Thank you,

Hi:

The screenshots all show that MBAM is notifying you that the Trial has ended.  This is all "normal" and expected behavior.

To stop the notifications and revert to the Free version, either:

  1. Click the blue "End Free Trial" link in the dashboard (on the line that says "real-time protection"); OR
  2. Click the blue "End Trial" link in the system tray popup notification.

To stop the notifications and upgrade to the paid, Premium version:

  1. Click the green "Upgrade Now" button in the dashboard, if you do not already have a license; OR
  2. Click the white "Activate" link button in the dashboard, if you already have a valid license, and follow these instructions HERE to activate the program.

Having said that, running a personal computer without realtime AV protection (even with MBAM Premium) is a fine way to become infected.
Your MBAM log shows that you are already beset with many, many PUPs and items in quarantine.
So, it's up to you, but I strongly suggest:

  1. Heading over to the malware removal section for expert help with cleanup, following the advice in my previous reply; AND
  2. Installing a robust, realtime antivirus, either Free or Paid, along with MBAM Premium and MBAE (Free or Premium).

Thank you again,

HI

thank u too for the heads-up reply ! I think I will go back to re-install avira free ! in meanwhile Mbam It should end it itself when the 13 day trial is expired ? so an auto switching back process to free it is will be better ? that’s make a confusion for a user .... if you’ve got what I mean !

There are many fine antivirus options, free and paid.

No, not exactly.  Your 14-day Trial already ended. What you report in the behavior you describe and the screen shots you posted is that MBAM is NOTIFYING you that the Trial has ended.  I provided the steps to take to stop those notifications in my previous reply.

It doesn't seem confusing to me -- when the Trial ends, you can either revert to the Free version (2 options, as previously explained), or you can activate to paid, Premium version (as previously explained), or you can perform a clean reinstall, which will get you back to the Free version, as well.  This is quite similar to other security applications and software that offer a Free trial.  At some point, the Trial ends. The user is notified. The user has choices whether to buy or to uninstall or to do something else.;)

Thank you again.

Just for the record, and for the last time I'll mention it: you have been running your system without realtime anti-virus or anti-malware protection and you have many items already in quarantine.

It might be a good idea to head over to the malware removal section of the forum for a bit of expert, free, guided help with malware scanning and removal.
(If you are infected, you may have trouble installing an antivirus until the malware is removed.)

And MBAM Free provides NO real-time protection.  If you want real-time anti-malware protection, you'll need to purchase an MBAM license.

But it's up to you,

will , I have click on "end free trial" twice and still won’t switch back to "free mode"

Then let's do this, please:

1.       Please carefully follow ALL the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

2.       If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs(the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt). If you

plus notice mbam is causing a system hang and Freeze ! so in meantime the program is still running in startup’s area ?

It would not be able to do that as the Free version, as the Free version does not provide real-time protection. It is just a manual, on-demand scanner.

I suggest trying the steps mentioned above to CLEANLY reinstall as the Free version -- please be sure to disable the "Self Protection" module before starting the process (if it is enabled), and please be absolutely sure to reboot the computer when you are prompted to do so by the removal tool.

If that does not resolve the issue, then please post back with a FRESH set of all 3 logs ATTACHED to your next reply.  Note: if you have already run FRST on this computer recently, please be sure to place a check-mark in the "Addition.txt" option before you run it again, so that it will produce both logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt).  We will need to see a fresh CheckResults.txt log from mbam-check, too, please.

Thank you,

Hi:

I mean no disrespect, but I'm not sure you're following the advice we have tried to provide.

The computer seems to be running an EXPIRED Trial version of MBAM and some of the Trial/Premium settings appear to have been retained.
The best way to clear those out and to get back to a CLEAN version of MBAM Free is carefully follow ALL the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

All of the steps needed are described there.
You do not need to disable Malware Protection or Malicious Website Protection.
You do not need to disable Self Protection if it is already disabled, as I explained here:

If it is not enabled, then there is nothing to disable.

It might help to print out the instructions, so that you can refer to them as you go.
We have used this tutorial to help 1000s of users over the years (and we follow the same steps on our own computers).

If they do not work for you, then there is probably something else amiss with your system and deeper work may be needed, perhaps at the Help Desk.

Thanks again,

Hi:

The current policy for MBAM Home/Consumer is 1 Trial per System per major MBAM Program Version.

If you were offered the Trial again while reinstalling MBAM on the same computer, then the most likely explanation is that you may have recently reformatted your hard drive or reinstalled the Windows Operating System.

In any event, I'm glad you have resolved your issue.

A few last reminders, if this is the same computer as the one you described in your original post here in this thread many days ago:

  • It showed signs of recent malware infection that still need to be addressed in the malware removal area of the forum.
  • It had no installed anti-virus for real-time protection - even with MBAM Premium, you still need a robust, real-time AV, either free or paid.

NOTE: If you do not activate MBAM Trial with a valid, paid license in the next 14 days, the Trial will end and the program will revert again to MBAM Free.

Thank you again,
