False positive - ScanSnap - can't restore

Recommended Posts

Hello DiPersiaTech and :welcome:

Please carefully read the locked and pinned topic in this sub-forum, How to report a False Positive and for developer analysis, kindly attach the 3 requested .zip archives to your next reply in this thread.

If an exclusion has not already been entered, a temporary exclusion entry might then be made available to prevent a re-occurrence for your individual system.

Thank you for beta testing MBARW and your feedback.

Sorry about that.

I rebooted, Windows came up and put me in to a temporary profile.  Weird.  Messed with that for a bit and got back to my normal profile.  Not sure it has anything to do with MBARW, but wanted to mention it since I never had this before on my machine.

After getting back to my normal profile, I saw MBARW startup and instantly disappear.  Went to click the taskbar icon and it disappeared once I moved over it.  Restarted the service for good measure, but that didn't change anything.  Any time I start MBARW, I get an instant flash on the screen, see it for a second in task manager, then gone.

So I zipped up the folders requested and attached them here.  I can't include the file that got quarantined as since the UI won't load, I can't get the file back.  I did include the quarantine directory if that helps (Not sure if the file just gets renamed or what.)

Hello DiPersiaTech:

Rather than a conventional re-install of MBARW Beta6, please consider a clean re-install of MBARW Beta6:

1. Close all open user applications followed by a conventional Windows based uninstall of Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware through the Windows system Control Panel.
2. If MBARW Beta was uninstalled successfully, the following directories will have been deleted from a typical Windows x64 system:

                         C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\
                         C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware\

3. If any of the above directories remain, please delete them manually.  If necessary, any remaining/uninstalled directory must be deleted in the Windows Safe mode.
4. Execute a conventional Windows restart to the Normal Windows boot mode and log-in through an Administrator's account. <===IMPORTANT!
5. Using an Administrator's account only, download a fresh MBARW_Setup.exe file and save to the Administrator's Desktop from the MBARW Introduction topic.
6. Right-click the saved MBARW_Setup.exe file and left-click RunAsAdmin.jpg  Run as administrator from the context menu and continue.
7. Upon a successful installation, please restart the computer in a conventional manner to the Windows Normal boot mode.

Please reply to your topic with the status of your reported issue.  Thank you for beta testing MBARW and your valued feedback.
