Recommendations for MBARW

Hi, I just wanted to say that this is a great idea and program. I have one question. Will this be a free part of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

One thing I would like to see added is decrypting files that have already been encrypted. That would be interesting, great as always!

Hello Yaeo and :welcome:

Upon the successful conclusion of the MBARW Beta testing project, the anti-ransomware core technology will be rolled into existing Malwarebytes products.

The MBARW Beta developers and Malwarebytes staff continually monitor this sub-forum and may respond here to your suggestion for "decrypting files that have already been encrypted."

Thanks for your interest in the MBARW Beta testing program.

Sorry, sorry sorry what I meant was, having the Anti-Ransomware product encrypt the files that have been an decrypted. If someone has already been attacked by Ransomware what this would do is they would download and have it be removed.

Yaeo,

Sadly we cannot add a "decrypting" function for after getting attacked by Ransomware, because there are so many types and different encryptions. Also most cannot be decrypted anyways, as they use secure encryption methods. But, it may be possible in the future that we can release stand alone decrypters for some Ransomware if possible.

The good news if, if you are running MBARW, you should never get encrypted anyways :)

I do hope you're right. ;-) Anyway, maybe it should also be possible for MBARW users to secure files and folders, so that ransomware cannot encrypt them (preventing files from being opened, deleted, accessed, modified etc. with the exception of trusted applications). I know there are third-party apps which do just that but it would be much more convenient if MBARW also offered this sort of additional (and essential) protection. Just my 2 cents.
