I checked for smartnewtab / liveadexchanger removal and tried solutions given on other sites, but it's not working.

Please suggest solution on removal of smartnewtab/liveadexchanger.

Hello and :welcome:

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button. button.

  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.

  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Just checked my browser and got this pop-up :-  http: // www.terraclicks.com / watch?key=ed7f47610793b41c5c4a0d40e44e0d7c

As soon as I opened a page from google, page went to above link and then to facebook.

Could there be any rootkit or something which seems to be restoring the pop-up even after deleting unwanted programs ?

On opera, getting the first link and in chrome getting the second link:-

http:// www.terraclicks.com/ watch?key=ed7f47610793b41c5c4a0d40e44e0d7c
http:// www.smartnewtab.com/ watch?key=0cdb16b7667982280fbb05007a35eb39

In both these browsers, the original page vanishes and target page appears as if it was opened from google.I had to look into history to get these links.

I have an external hard disk connected.any chance the malware might be coming up from the external drive? Will disconnect the drive and do the scan once again and post the log files.

That's unlikely to happen.
