Hi,

I'm looking for some help with an infected computer (my husband's PC - Dell desktop).

The PC started behaving oddly a few days ago - freezing, AV websites blocked, messages warning about a trojan infection.

We downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware and ran it (was not straightforward though - would not download on infected PC so had to transfer it over using USB disk, and then would only run when we re-named the file).

On the first malware scan it picked up lots of infected items and reported that it had disinfected them. It has behaved very oddly since. Now it has picked up uacinit.dll but seems unable to delete it - says it has to reboot to delete and then doesn't manage to reboot properly, and when it does, the infection is still there.

We've got HijackThis onto it via the USB pen drive, and the logs for this and MBAM are below.

I'm pretty sure the next step is to download and run Combofix?

Would be grateful for some help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

* Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

Extra note: The combofix tutorial recommends to disable your Antivirus, in your case McAfee. For McAfee, I rather recommend to temporary uninstall it, because Mcafee causes a lot of problems with Combofix after reboot, this because McAfee enables again after reboot. So please temporary uninstall McAfee first, then reboot and then scan with Combofix.
