Malicious Webiste Protection, IP, DNS.exe

Recommended Posts

Please help. I've recently noticed over the past day or two in the protection log that Malwarebytes is blocking an outbound connection to IP 122.228.198.140 using C:\Windows\System32\dns.exe as user SYSTEM. I looked up this IP address on an IP Lookup website and it said it's in China? These logs are on our domain controller and my PC which I think is somehow related to me being locked out of active directory every 15-20 minutes. Not sure what to do at this point besides re-image my computer. Suggestions?

Hello and :welcome:

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button. button.

  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.

  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
