false Detection officeClickToRun.exe, no restore possible

Recommended Posts

after a reboot of my win7Pro - System the following Message Window showed up:

ScreenShot 095 Malewarebytes Detection.png

As I opened the main application window to restore the file I saw:

ScreenShot 096 Updates....png

nothing in Quarantine.

Afterwards the update has been announced. After Update although empty Quarantine.

So I was not able to restore the file until now.

Any ideas are welcome.

Hello Heninng and welcome:

Available data does suggest a false positive and, if it has not already been done, you may wish to make the following temporary full pathname file entry in MBARW GUI Dashboard -> Exclusions:

           C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\Updates\16.0.6741.2021\OfficeClickToRun.exe

At any time, a development team member, QA team member or staffer may request the above temporary exclusion be altered/removed.

How to Repair an Office application.

  1. Please consider producing a hard copy of the procedure within Repair an Office application.
  2. Restart the computer in question into the Windows Normal mode and terminate unnecessary applications.
  3. Follow Microsoft's procedure within step 1.
  4. Again, restart the system into Windows Normal mode.
  5. Confirm the previously missing file has been restored.

Please reply to this topic with the status of your system.

Thank you for beta testing MBARW and your valued feedback.

Hello 1PW,

thank you for your quick replay.

After a Office repair the file OfficeClickToRun.exe doesn't appears again, at least not in the folder mentioned above. I found the file in the Folders
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClicToRun\
- C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\

Hence, I was not able to register an execution for the mentioned path.

After some tests the office programs seem to work correct.

An information to finish: the repair was not possible before the system was restarted. > message: a different installation is performed.
