Zip file Locky

Recommended Posts

My laptop and Dropbox files were ransomed yesterday after I mistakenly tried to open a zipfile email attachment; this sounds like a new development as all I can find on the web is descriptions of Locky .doc or .xls email attachments.

I have now downloaded and run the free Malwarebytes and beta ransomware; neither of them has picked up Locky. Nor has Spyhunter, which I downloaded, ran then removed.

Any advice? And would you be interested in more details of the Locky variant?

Hello YClaire and :welcome:

Your post indicates  the computer is probably still infected and malware removal actions are not permitted in this subforum. Unfortunately MBARW Beta is a prevention tool and not a removal tool.

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and have one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

If you would like to get off to a very fast start, the Malware Removal Experts would appreciate it if you would also attach (not copy/paste) both the FRST.txt and the Addition.txt output diagnostic reports from only Log Set 1 into your new topic. Please do not tick, nor untick, any pre-configured FRST categories.

Thank you.
