How to install Trend Micro Maximum Security without removing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium?

Recommended Posts

I've just bought a new Anti-Virus which is "Trend Micro Maximum Security 10" the lastest version. During the setup progress it required to uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium to complete installation. Is that possible to skip, ignore or exclude it during the setup progress? I just bought Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium just 2 months ago and i don't want to lose either one of this...

Please advise.

Thank you so much.

Hi ChefDanny :)

It's not unusual for Antivirus products to asks you to uninstall other security software before you install them. In this situation, since you cannot avoid that step (and you don't want to avoid it), the easiest solution would be to uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium (make sure to save your licence information), install Trend Micro Maximum Security 10, and then reinstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium. This should do the trick. You'll see after that if there's an incompatibility between Trend Micro and Malwarebytes.

One of the helpers here (like David, Firefox, daledoc1 or 1PW) can post information related to what Malwarebytes files, folders and processes you should add to Trend Micro's exclusion lists to make sure that it won't conflict.

After the install, should you want to add exclusions to avoid any possible conflicts below are the list of files that need to be excluded. I usually do this as a proactive approach, not because I have conflicts, but to avoid any possible conflicts.

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software (not sure what version you are using):

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 & Windows 10:

  •
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe
    For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 / 8 & 10:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE, MBAMSERVICE.EXE and MBAMRESEARCH.EXE from it as well

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products

Below is a screenshot of how to exclude your antivirus folder (in this case Sophos) in Malwarebytes.
