I'm running Malwarebytes Anti Malware Premium 2.2.0.1024. My system is a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10.

I've noticed in the event viewer that the mabamservice.exe has had an error several times. I'm posting the event log detail below. Is this a known problem? Any idea what may have caused it or what I can do to prevent it?

TIA,

Hank Arnold (Microsoft MVP - Consumer Protection)

Hello and :welcome: :

Thanks for the report.

No, we aren't seeing a lot of similar reports here in the forum.

If MBAM was already installed at the time of an OS upgrade to Win10, it's possible that something in MBAM became corrupted or broken.

Even if that particular scenario doesn't apply to this particular system, we need a bit more system information in order to better assist you.

Please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

The logs may help to explain the behavior you report.

Thanks,

Hi:

Thanks for the logs. :)

They show that MBAM was installed back in Oct 2015 and that Win10 was installed in Nov 2015.

So, it's possible -- as suggested earlier -- that the OS upgrade caused some minor corruption in MBAM.

The first suggestion is to perform a clean reinstall of MBAM by carefully following all the steps in this pinned topic: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

Please be sure to reboot when prompted by the removal tool.  It's not a bad idea to reboot again after reinstallation.

>>That may or may not resolve your issues, as the logs also show a number failing Windows services, modifications to IE that are consistent with possible malware problems, and other errors.

So, let's start with the MBAM reinstall.

It's likely that we may need to send you to a different area of the forum for deeper work, even if the reinstall solves the immediate issue with mbamservice.exe errors.

EDIT: I notice that you are running ESET Endpoint Security -- is this is a business/work/corporate/enterprise computer, by any chance?

Thanks,
