My wife's laptop has been running OK for ages, no problems what so ever. However this morning she started a Malware Bytes scan of the hard drive. It then said that it needs t o scan the disk & then went into actually scanning the hard drive for errors, similar to Windows performing a chkdsk. It did this, got so far, & then came up with this entry over & over again, line after line

" a connection 6a"

 

 

This seemed wrong, so I cancelled the scan

On reboot, Windows Vista rang a disk scan this time, & many sectors are unreadable, & it's now stuck on 3%.

 

Has the hard drive gone, or is this something that Malwarebytes. I have had Malwareybytes for years & never had this occur before
