Not the most descriptive subject, but here's the question.

Environment: LAN w/ Mulitple pc's with r/w access via mapped drives to shares on a windows 2k8R2 server.

Is having Anti-Ransomware installed and active on the server protective in the case of an active infection on a ws attemting to encrypt the files residing on that server?

Thanks.

Hello ForestCat and :welcome:

Thanks for your keen interest in the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware (MBARW) Beta testing program.

Per https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/178457-mbarw-on-file-server/#entry1018081

"MBARW is in its Beta-testing phase. That means we do not recommend installing it on any work-related machine as the results may be unpredictable. Especially on Windows Servers, which are not supported."

You are very strongly advised to remove MBARW Beta from any and all production systems. In particular this especially applies to all Microsoft servers.

Thank you.
