Hi all,

I had to uninstall and reinstall my antivirus "Trend Micro" today and of course, it has removed my MBam program.

Where can I download the newest installation file for version 2.2.0.1024 ?

Also, I remember there were somes MBam files that we inclulded in the "exclusions" of Trend Micro but just can't seem to find the post about this.

Can someone help me on this?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Regards

Hello and welcome back:

First, to cleanly reinstall MBAM, please carefully follow all of the steps here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

NOTES:
Normally, we suggest that you "deactivate" your account before uninstalling, but it you have already uninstalled MBAM without doing so, it will probably be OK.
It's very important to reboot the computer when prompted by the removal tool.
It wouldn't hurt to reboot again after the reinstall.
How to install
How to activate

For the mutual exclusions, the screen shot shows how to exclude the folder for an AV (in this case Kaspersky).
The steps below list the MBAM files to exclude in your AV.

Thanks,
----------------------

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software for your version of Windows:

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 & Windows 10:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 & Windows 10:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If you are using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall, you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE, MBAMSERVICE.EXE and MBAMRESEARCH.EXE from it, as well.

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

Hi,

Really don't know how Trend Micro uninstall MBam in his process and I really hope it was a "clean" removal because I didn't have the chance to do anything prior to the uninstallation of MBam. Sure hope everything will be Ok.

Many thanks for the infos and your help!

Hi:

Alas, it's unlikely that TM performed a "clean" uninstall of MBAM during its own installation, as it would not have used the mbam removal tool.
The removal it performed *might* be OK, or it might not.

There's no way to know.

(Our "best practices" for MBAM would have been to temporarily uninstall MBAM first, then update TM and then reinstall MBAM.)

You could try to just install it and activate it, as explained here, and see how it goes:
How to install
How to activate

But you might have better luck if you please carefully follow all of the steps here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

It might help to print out and read the instructions first - they aren't as hard as they look.

That process will get you to a clean starting point and then will reinstall MBAM with less chance of problems or corruption.

Please post back and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Yes, the tool and process will take care of any leftovers that TM did not get so that you will have a clean starting point to reinstall.

That's why we call it a "clean" removal/reinstall and why we call the tool "mbam-clean". :)

If you want to try to reinstall without following the suggested process, that's up to you.

If it works, then you will be good to go.

If it goes pear-shaped, then I would again suggest carefully following all of the steps here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

Thanks,
