Malwarebytes slows my system

Recommended Posts

Malwarebytes causes my Windows 7 system to run slow. Often when I start a program or during use I get the round windows spinning cursor for up to 30 seconds. It happens with various programs such as Firefox, Quicken, Windows explorer, Freecommander, Control panel and more. I have Norton Security 2016 for my antivirus. I also have Winpatrol and Winprivacy. I turned off each of these security softwares individually over a few days and when I deinstalled Malwarebytes my system runs great. The malwarebytes I purchased and installed last July 2015 setup.exe has version

Does anyone know how I can resolve this?

Preliminary review of your logs shows that MBAM was reinstalled a day or so ago, but that it wasn't a clean install.
So, let's try this:

1) Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and cleanly reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
It's important to reboot when prompted by the removal tool, and it doesn't hurt to reboot again after the reinstall.
2) Consider setting mutual exclusions between MBAM and Norton.  The screenshot below shows an example of excluding an AV in MBAM.  The instructions below list the steps for excluding MBAM in your AV and firewall.
Please post back and let us know if these steps resolve your issue.

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software for your version of Windows:

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 & Windows 10:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 & Windows 10:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If you are using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall, you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE, MBAMSERVICE.EXE and MBAMRESEARCH.EXE from it, as well.

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:
