malwarebytes was unable to load the Anti-Rootkit Driver. Error code 20025

Recommended Posts

Apologies if there are many threads on this site with this question but did a search and nothing came up ... (apart from a very old locked thread)

I get the notice "malwarebytes was unable to load the Anti-Rootkit Driver. Error code 20025" coming up on my HP PC running Vista Business service pack 2

I also have sophos running ...

Is it a bad sign ??

Please help

  • 4 months later...

I had the same problem on 2 PC's. (Windows 8.1 and Windows 10) I have ren te MBAR program but no rootkit was found.

On both pc's was running also Reghunter. After i have stopped reghunter the problem doesn't exist anymore.
It is possible that programs that protect the registery like other anti-virus programs or programs like reghunter makes it look like there is a rootkit.

So, stop running this programs and look of the problem will repeat. (or exists)
