I got tricked into downloading virus infected drivers and my computer caught a bad virus. Since then, I reformatted both of my drives (HDD and SSD) and re-installed Windows several times. On the surface, it seems as though the virus is gone, but I've read that certain viruses can hang on after formats. I've run several scans from different programs in between formats and installs. I still have this issue of constant freezing, slowed internet speed, and high ram usage (Which I've narrowed it down to the svchost process and wuauserv service.). My computer never experienced these issues before and I would like to know whether there's still a virus in my system or not. All help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to Malwarebytes,

Please be aware the following P2P/Piracy Warning is a standard opening reply made here at Malwarebytes, we make no accusations but do make you aware of Forum Protocol....

I do not see any evidence of obvious malware or infection in your logs, we can still look further...

Download attached fixlist.txt file (end of reply) and save it to the Desktop, or the folder you saved FRST into.
NOTE. It's important that both FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) or the folder it was ran from. Please post it to your reply.

I haven't noticed anymore hiccups in performance on my pc. It could be due to the fact that I have not used it much since creating this post. Yes, it is true I don't have any antivirus. I never really had to use any programs. Which software do you recommend? The logs you wanted are attached.

Thank you.

Thanks for the logs and the update, nothing to concern us in the scans with Malwarebytes or ESET. The one ESET entry is typical of free software, CCleaner is showing bundled with a Toolbar, usually free software always have unwanted extras, in this instance the bundled toolbar is Google, not malicious in anyway and ok to use....

As logs are showing no threats we can clean up....

Download "Delfix by Xplode" and save it to your desktop.

Or use the following if first link is down:

"Delfix link mirror"

If your security program alerts to Delfix either, accept the alert or turn your security off.

Double Click to start the program. If you are using Vista or higher, please right-click and choose run as administrator

Make Sure the following items are checked:

  •
  • Remove disinfection tools

  • Purge System Restore <--- this will remove all previous and possibly exploited restore points, a new point relative to system status at present will be created.

  • Reset system settings

Now click on "Run" and wait patiently until the tool has completed.

The tool will create a log when it has completed. We don't need you to post this.

Any remnant files/logs from tools we have used can be deleted…
