Hi,

I have just downloaded Malwarebytes on my brothers Pc and 660 items that have now been quarantined.

I am using a dongle for the internet.

Now I cannot access the internet either with Google Chrome or Internet explorer on his laptop. I can access the internet on my laptop.

The message states 'allow chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.'

I know very little about computers but i think I have messed his pc up. My brother has Norton in the Pc when I downloaded Malwarebytes.

I am using my laptop to access the this forum.

How to I download software from the internet when my brothers pc will now  not allow me to access the internet?

I will check in later onto the site. Hopefully someone is here to help.

Thank you so much for your help in advance.

Hello and :welcome: :

It sounds as if there may be 2 issues: lots of malware and (possibly) the wifi dongle (there have been isolated reports of connectivity problems with these).

The first priority is the malware cleanup.

We are not permitted to work on possible malware-related issues here in this section of the forum.
Such work is conducted in a special forum area reserved for that purpose, or at the help desk.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue - the helper will guide you through scanning, cleanup and repair.

The other issues can be worked on after that.

Thanks,

Hi:

No problem about the post location -- forum newcomers often post in this section first.  I was just steering you to the correct place for help.

Second question: cannot say for sure without seeing the logs.  But I suspect many of the detections might be PUPs.
Also, see here:

Thanks Daledoc1 for replying,

Maybe a suggestion is for Malwarebytes putting a 'how to' sticky at the top of the page??

Alot of the malware list does say PUP(bandoo) and with music toolbar\datamngr\srtool chrome content\toolbar.

There are different versions of this in the listing.

Hopefully I can fix my brothers computer.

Yep, there are already some stickies/pinned topics at the top of each forum (as well as descriptions of each sub-forum on the main page)

Here are just a couple of them:

Not to worry -- it's NOT a problem that you posted in this section. :)
