Trouble updating

Recommended Posts

Hello and :welcome: , @tmitch2315:

I just started having this problem.  Running windows 7 with fast internet and program is on allowed list of my microsoft firewall.  What now? Thanks

Problems that sound "the same" often have different causes and different "fixes" on different computers, as each system is unique.

@AdvancedSetup may split off your post to its own, separate topic, so that we can better assist you with customized support. :)

Until then, I suggest the following:

  • First, please check your computer's system date and time to be sure they are correct.
  • Then, reboot the computer.
  • If neither those resolves your issue, please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt) -- it's important to reboot when prompted by the removal tool and it's not a bad idea to reboot again after the reinstall.

Thanks,

Windows will not open Farbar the first tool.  "windows cannot open this file"

You're not trying to "open" it, you want to *run* it by downloading it, saving it to your desktop and then double-clicking the file.

But first, please be sure you are trying to run the version that is correct for your Windows OS.

If your Windows OS is 32-bit, then you want the 32-bit version.

If your Windows OS is 64-bit, then you want the 64-bit version.

If you do not know if your Windows OS is 32-bit or 64-bit, then you can try to run BOTH versions of FRST.

Only 1 of the 2 will work on your system.

Or, You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.

Thanks,

Thanks, did the old tried and true. uninstall re install and it updated.  Will get back on if it goes south again.

Thanks for the update.

Did you follow the "best practices" for a proper, clean reinstall, as explained here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

That is the recommended reinstall method to resolve minor issues.

But I'm glad it's working for you now. :)

>>If you run into further problems, I suggest that you please start your own, new, separate topic.

When you do, please attach a full set of 3 diagnostic logs to the post.

That way, we can better assist you with customized support.

Thanks again,
