Completely Removing Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Folder

Recommended Posts

Hi! My MBAE under Windows 10 stopped working, so I tried to uninstall it so I can reinstall it again. I successfully uninstalled the software through Control Panel > Programs and Features, but I can't seem to delete its folder from Progam Files (x86) because of mbae64.sys (it says 'the action can't be completed because the file in it is open in another program').

How can I delete the folder completely? Do you provide a uninstall utility particulartly for Anti-Exploit?

Welcome. :)

Until @pbust comes along, do you happen to have MBAM Self-Protection enabled, by any chance?

(MBAM dashboard > Settings > Advanced Settings > "Enable Self-Protection Module")

I don't know if it is still the case with the current versions of MBAM and MBAE, but it was previously the case that MBAM Self-Protection could interfere with removal/moving/renaming/uninstalling files associated with other Malwarebytes software.

If that doesn't explain or resolve your issue, I guess the other question is: are you logged in to Windows from an Admin account?

Otherwise, please wait for assistance.

@pbust may need to see some logs from your system, as suggested in THIS PINNED TOPIC. ;)
