Malicious Website Protection will not start

Recommended Posts

Running Windows 8.1 with all current updates applied.

Using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home (Premium) 2.2.0.1024

Malewarebytes database is up to date as of 12/14/2015

I get the notification that my system is not fully protected and when I click on Fix Now the notification comes back right away. I opened the program to see why I am getting this and saw that the Malicious Website Protection was not enabled. When I try to enable it, it just goes back to disabled.

This issue seems to have started after updating the malwarebytes database yesterday (12/14/2015).

This is very frustrating as just a few days ago it was working just fine (I do not use this computer everyday).

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Hello raygo1975 and :welcome:

Let's begin here:

  • Please try the following and reply if this corrects your issue: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2.x.
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and individually attach the 3 requested logs in a reply to this thread: Diagnostic Logs.
  • The 3 files, from Step 2, to be individually attached from your desktop are: CheckResults.txt, FRST.txt and Addition.txt. Please do not Copy and Paste them into a reply.
Please update the status of your issue in a reply to this thread.

Thank You.

Using the MBAM-Clean.exe and reinstalling fixed the problem. One thing in the instructions for MBAM-clean it says to get my license key so I can put it back in once I reinstalled the program. I did not have to put the license key in after the reinstall, it was already there.

One thing, how do I mark this issue closed?

Glad that worked for you, at times depending on what version you had, your license info is retained.  Its always good to have that info handy during a re-install.

As for making it closed/complete, there is no need to do that, you replied with your issue being resolved so that for the most part lets us know the topic is complete.
