could this be a false positive? what is going on?

Hello folks, I hope you are all doing well. 

 

I am working on a machine that had some malware that was removed. (with malwarebytes and other tools). 

 

now, when I run malwarebytes again, I don't get shown any threats during the scanning process, however at the end the screen shows me that 23 threats were identified, however none of them are successfully quarantined. 

 

 

the scan log will make no mention of identified threats (all zeros) but I am concerned because of what I see in this screen. 

I might add that the filesystem scan takes a much shorter time than the heuristics scan and this is a behaviour that I had not seen before. 

 

I have been using malwarebytes since 2009 and have ran a ton of scans on many different computers but this is the first time Im witnessing this.

Unfortunately we do not support the use of the program by others to help in cleaning other systems. We do provide licensing for business use (I realize you may be a home users trying to help friends but again that is not supported) we do provide free use for all home users if using for themselves and they can contact us directly for free assistance.

 

That said the program have created a more detailed log of the scan. I would recommend looking at that log. It could also be that it was a scan right after another scan that may have cached information. Try restarting the computer and running the scan again.

Thank you for your help. 

The log does not show any malware detected, only the screen that is shown in the screenshot. 

 

Restarting the machine does not change anything. same test result.

I purchased a business edition for our business (for all of you wondering, I am not a professional technician, I am trying to clean our own server). let me try running with business edition if problem persists I will go that rout.

I will assist you in cleaning the one time that's not an issue. However for continued support yes you'd need a business license for multiple machine support help.

Just an FYI though that MBAM 1.8 is the business version not the 2.x image shown above. Also note that MBAM is not officially supported on Server but we have thousands of customers that do run it on server without any reported issue and we'll do our best to help you if you're having issues running the program on the server.

no I purchased the corporate edition later. it found the 23 objects but the business edition quarantined them successfully.
