After removing the shopperz malware using these instructions https://blog.malwarebytes.org/intelligence/2015/09/shopperz-alters-dnsapi-dll/ .

I was able to remove the malware but as a result I can no longer connect to any websites using any browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, or IE. On chrome, the error listed is DNS_PROBE_NXDOMAIN.

I can successfully connect to the wifi but the internet browsers do not work. When launching firefox, it immediately crashes.

I have attached frst.txt and addition.txt.

FSS and MTB logs indicate the internet connection is made, Yahoo and Google pinged successfully....   run the following:

Select start, in the search box typ services.msc hit enter, in the new window check these entries are running and set to automatic:

DHCP Client

DNS Client

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Right click on "Command Prompt" select "Run As Administrator"

Run the following commands hit the enter key after each one,

netsh winsock reset catalog

netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /registerdns

Then reboot. Is the connection restored to browsers?

Ok I followed the steps you told me to do.

Both services dhcp client and dns client are on automatic.

I entered all those commands into command prompt and rebooted.

I am still having issues with using my internet browsers. Firefox is crashing right as it is opened and chrome displays dns probe finished nxdomain.

Ok, run clean install of Chrome, see where that takes us...

If your Chrome Bookmarks are important do this first:

Go to this link: http://www.wikihow.com/Export-Bookmarks-from-Chrome follow the instructions and Export your Bookmarks from Chrome, save to your Desktop or similar. Note the instructions can also be used to Import the bookmarks.....

Continue for a clean install:

Remove all synced data from Chrome go here: http://www.howtogeek.com/103655/how-to-delete-your-google-chrome-browser-sync-data/ follow those instructions...

Uninstall Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95319?hl=en-GB follow those instructions, ensure the option to "Also delete your browsing data" is selected. <<--- Very important!!

Install Google Chrome from here: https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html

Install Adblock Plus to Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-plus/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb

Reboot when complete, does Chrome connect?

I was unable to install chrome. I downloaded the installer program for chrome on a different computer and transferred the program on a usb drive to the affected computer but it needed internet access to install it unfortunately.

I would also like to note that the internet connectivity issues do not just lie in the browsers as a I found recently. I am also unable to access online leaderboards when playing a videogame that can be played offline but will always automatically try to access the game servers to save highscores.

Can you run system restore, see if moving back prior to the issue starting makes a difference... Use the nearest RP first, then try further back if that one fails..

If that proves successful run FRST scan again and post fresh logs. Ensure that only "Addition, txt" is selected under "Optional Scan"

Ok so when I looked at the list of options for the system restore, I did not see the ones you listed above.

I only saw 3 options: 12/9/2015 3:00 AM ; 12/9/2015 12:42 AM ; and 12/7/2015 6:29 PM even after checking show more restore points.

Since the internet problems were still present at the date 12/9/2015, I did a system restore to the point 12/7/2015 6:29 PM. This resulted in some new errors in the FSS.text log when running FSS. I have attached the FSS, FRST. and Addition text files to this post.

Before when connected to the internet, the connection would go through all the way without any errors. Now when I connect to the wifi, there is a small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. I also found out now that when I run firefox browser as an administrator it does not crash but it still does not successfully connect to any websites. Also after the system restore, the google chrome browser  does not launch when running chrome.exe. Internet explorer also does not connect to any websites.

Actually, I have found a very huge update to solving this problem. It seems that I can access the internet on the programs if I run the programs in administrator mode. I now have access to the internet.

If you could tell me what I could do make it so that I can access the internet even when the program is not run in administrator mode.

To run in the mode you mention it will be necessary to create a standard user account to run from. That is an account without Administrator status, if you try to open/run anything that requires Administrator status from the standard accout UAC will alert and ask for Administrator account password for authorization. Do you understand that?

Have a read here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/507-built-administrator-account-enable-disable.html All options should be available from that link..

Before you set up the standard account run the following scans to make sure your system is clean:

ESETOnline.png Scan with ESET Online Scanner

This step can only be done using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Temporary disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here.
Please visit ESET Online Scanner website.

Click there Run ESET Online Scanner.

If using Internet Explorer:

  • Accept the Terms of Use and click Start.
  • Allow the running of add-on.

If using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome:

  • Download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe that you'll be given link to.
  • Double click esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe.
  • Allow the Terms of Use and click Start.

To perform the scan:

  • Make sure that Remove found threats is unchecked.
  • Scan archives is checked.
  • In Advanced Settings: Scan for potentially unwanted applications, Scan for potentially unsafe applications and Enable Anti-Stealth technology are checked.
  • Under “Enable Stealth Technology select “Change” select any extra drives in that window.
  • Click Start
  • The program will begin to download it's virus database. The speed may vary depending on your Internet connection.
  • When completed, the program will begin to scan. This may take several hours. Please, be patient.
  • Do not do anything on your machine as it may interrupt the scan.
  • When the scan is done, click Finish.
  • A logfile will be created at C:\Program Files (x86)\ESET\ESET Online Scanner. Open it using Notepad.

Please include this logfile in your next reply.

Don't forget to re-enable protection software!

Next,

Please download RogueKiller and save it to your desktop from the following link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/roguekiller/

  • Quit all running programs.
  • For Windows XP, double-click to start.
  • For Vista,Windows 7/8/8.1/10, Right-click on the program and select Run as Administrator to start and when prompted allow it to run.
  • Read and accept the EULA (End User Licene Agreement)
  • Click Scan to scan the system.
  • When the scan completes select "Report",in the next window select "Export txt" the log will open as a text file post that log... Also save to your Desktop for reference. log will open.
  • Close the program > Don't Fix anything!

Let me see those logs, also give an update on any  remaining issues or concerns,,,

Thank you,

Kevin..
