Download attached fixlist.txt file (end of reply) and save it to the Desktop, or the folder you saved FRST into.

Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.

Unless you have backups on a disconnected external hard drive the chances of recovery are probably nil. Have a read at the following link regarding information on Ransomware infections....

What is the current status, any remaining issues or concerns..

I believe that everything is fine now, is there any harm in removing the "how_recover+pij" .htm/txt files that the ranssomeware left behind, it's in every folder on the computer. Also, do you recommend reinstalling programs as the ransomware may have encryped some files under Program Files.

Yes remove the files you quote, maby worthwhile saving them to a memory stick or other media. It is possible a fix maybe found later. Personally i`d put this down to experience and go for a fresh install of windows, your choice on that...

If you intend to keep the system as is, yes re-install any programs as you see fit... if no other issues we will need to clean up as follows....

Download "Delfix by Xplode" and save it to your desktop.

Or use the following if first link is down:

"Delfix link mirror"

Double Click to start the program. If you are using Vista or higher, please right-click and choose run as administrator

Make Sure the following items are checked:

  •
  • Remove disinfection tools

  • Purge System Restore <--- this will remove all previous and possibly exploited restore points, a new point relative to system status at present will be created.

  • Reset system settings

Now click on "Run" and wait patiently until the tool has completed.

The tool will create a log when it has completed. We don't need you to post this.

Any remnant files/logs from tools we have used can be deleted…

The ransomware infection was removed from Windows 8.1, so we have a clean system. You then upgrade to Windows 10, why do you want to reset, what has happened since the upgrade, are there issues/problems?

No additional problems, but you recommended a fresh install of windows.

I said that a clean install would be my preference, i would not have gone for an upgrade if there was the possibility of carrying an infection or remnants of the infection over... Look its past 1 am local time for me, i`ll have to catch up later, sleepy time for me...

As far as I was aware your system was clean when I posted instructions for the clean up with Delfix, if you suspect there are still issues i`d recommend a reformat and a clean install...
