Web Exclusion

Recommended Posts

I have the free version of Malwarebytes.  I noticed under Settings and Web Exclusion that website IP 95.215.1.57 is on the list.  I google searched that IP and that appears to be a malicious website.

I cannot remove that exclusion as everything is grayed out under Settings.  I uninstalled Malwarebytes and reinstalled it and it's still there.   I also have the free Malwarebytes version on my office computer but that IP is not there under Exclusions.

Is this something to be concerned about?    Thanks

Hi:

First, the reason those settings are grayed out is that Advanced Settings are available only to users with the paid, Premium version.

Yes, there is at least a slight reason to be concerned.  MBAM does not automatically add Web Exclusions. So, someone with access to the computer either added the exclusion or allowed it to be added.
You might want to get a bit of free, expert help checking the system for malware.
Such work is conducted in a special forum area reserved for that purpose, or at the help desk.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

Thanks,

P.S. For the record, it is a violation of the EULA to use the Consumer version of MBAM (even the Free version) on a work/business/corporate/government/enterprise computer.  THIS article explains more about how to run MBAM in that office environment, with proper licensing. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I will do that.

Yes, I would definitely suggest getting some free, expert help checking for malware.

That IP didn't end up in web exclusions by itself and it does look to be a bad, Russian IP.

Was not aware of the P.S. part you mention. I will delete it.

No big deal. You might want to ask your IT folks to consider adding MBAM for Business to their security setup for everyone in your company. :)

Then you could have MBAM at home and at work.

(Along those same lines, MBAM Premium provides real-time protection to help PREVENT malware infection. MBAM Free, as you probably know, is only a manual, on-demand scanner to REMOVE malware that already made it past your AV onto the system. It's always better to PREVENT than to CLEAN UP. There is a good deal on the Premium price going on now.)

Cheers (from just another home user unaffiliated with the company),
