"When the government really IS here to help with cybersecurity", via NakedSecurity

Recommended Posts

According to Ronald Reagan, the nine most terrifying words in the English language are: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Thanks to Edward Snowden, those concerned with security and privacy would probably agree. I’m here to tell you that there is a different side to this story and it’s one that is worth writing about.

Last week, I had the privilege of being invited to a workshop hosted by the Canadian Cyber Incident Response Centre (CCIRC).

Well known guy now days but not much meat there in the article compared to most his articles. Also as I read it he is saying they're asking Sophos to provide them with fingerprint technology that enables them to know who is possibly behind a computer even though there is no known specific personal information. Maybe I'm just jaded from all the uber security trampling Governments do but his article needs more information if I'm to believe the Canadian unit is any different than any other Government when it comes to cyber security and general lack of concern for personal privacy if the ends justify the means.
