Hi

I would like your help please.

My MBAM has been performing faultlessly for a very long time but when I've turned my PC on today there was a pop up box from my MBAM Premium and because of that I am scared of possibly having a rootkit lurking somewhere :( .

I chose to reboot the system as suggested in the pop up box and clicked "YES" but it went WRONG!

I managed to put my pc password in before it had a chance to go any further but instead of getting into my desktop screen, the screen turned black with another MBAM error code warning and MBAM scan started running. The scan started by me clicking "YES" button in the error pop up box. For some reason "Custom scan started"

I aborted the scan after a while and got rid off the MBAM interface by clicking the "x" in the corner. The screen stayed black and didn't want to load to my desktop screen so I had to turn my PC off with the power button and turned it back on. Whilst it was loading  Windows Message Screen came up telling me that my pc wasn't shut down properly. I chose the option to load windows normally and got back to my desktop. There was no MBAM pop up box this time.

Hope there is something in the MBAM Check Results I've attached which is going to identify what caused the problem with my MBAM because I have absolutely no idea what to do.

Thank you

Hello clower_element and :welcome:

Thank you for the outstanding documentation regarding this issue. Let's begin here:

  • Please try the following and let us know if this corrects your issue: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2.x.
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and individually attach the 3 requested logs in a reply to this thread: Diagnostic Logs.
  • The 3 files, from Step 2, to be individually attached from your desktop are: CheckResults.txt, FRST.txt and Addition.txt. Please do not Copy and Paste them into a reply.
You may also wish to consider deleting about one year's worth of MBAM logs to regain storage space.

Please let us know the status of your issue in a reply to this thread.

Thank You.

Thank you very much for your reply :) . I have couple questions before I start the clean removal process and reinstalling MBAM.

1. Do I have to deactivate my License first before I use MBAM Clean Removal Tool?

2. What do you mean by deleting one year's worth of MBAM logs? Do you mean the "Application Logs" under " History Tab"?

Will not the MBAM Clean Removal Tool take care of this when I run it or do I have to delete them manually before I run the MBAM Clean Removal Tool?

Thanks

Yes - you may. Potentially you might then avoid a license reactivation issue.

This would be if you rejected my advice in post #2, step #1.

Thank you.

Update: I did a clean reinstall but I am having problems. Something is either creating a block or there is some kind of an interference on my PC at start up.

26th November when I created this thread- Warning Pop Up Box -"MBAM was unable to load anti-rootkit driver, error 20025" on PC start up

27th November - No Warning Pop UP box from MBAM on Start Up

28th November - PC wasn't turned on

29th November - Decided to take an action -

                              1. Used MBAM Removal Tool and restarted my PC.

                              2.  Downloaded MBAM again and activated my license without any problems and all the Premium Features activated as well.

Because everything looked OK with MBAM I made the final step and restarted my PC and PROBLEMS started. -->>

--->> 1st time I restarted my PC, MBAM and my Anti-virus MSE Icons were MISSING from my System Tray in the notification area. I decided to do a second PC restart.

--->> 2nd time I restarted my PC, MBAM Icon was present in the notification area but MSE anti-virus icon was still MISSING. I made a third restart!

-->> 3rd time all icons loaded with no problems

TODAY- 30th November - I turned my PC on everything loaded in my System tray except the MSE icon   again! :(

The same behaviour as I experienced yesterday. The Control Panel/ All Control Panel Items/ Notification Area Icons lists the program without the picture Icon and the "Behaviour" is set to "Show the Icon and Notifications" but it fails to appear to be visible next to the clock where it is supposed to be visible. Even when I click the little arrow pointing upwards, the icon is still not there.

I've attached the FRST logs and would be very grateful if you could kindly assist me in working out what is causing my issue, please.

Thank you

Hello clower_element:

Even though the 3rd diagnostic output report (CheckResults.txt) is absent, and yet on the strength of your observations and some entries in your system's event logs, I believe it would be worthwhile to have a Malware Removal Expert take a closer look at your system. This does not mean I believe your system is infected.

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and have one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

If you would like to get off to a very fast start, the Malware Removal Experts would appreciate it if you would also attach (not copy/paste) both the FRST.txt and the Addition.txt output diagnostic reports from only Log Set 1 into your new topic. Please do not tick, nor untick, any pre-configured FRST categories.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply, 1PW :) . Very much appreciated.

I've just made a thread in Malware Removal Help Forum as you recommended.

My PC has been checked and apparently there is no infection.

At present moment all MBAM features seem to be working and I haven't seen the error code 20025 since this thread was made.

I am still wondering what makes mainly MBAM and MSE notification icons not to load up at start up on many occasions but knowing it is not infection related I am going to live with it for the time being.

I will probably be back if the error code 20025 or any other MBAM problem resurfaces again.

Thanks
