Untracable P.U.P

Recommended Posts

On my laptop (Lenovo G70), I rarely use it to go on-line .... just Win updates etc.

I still do a weekly scan with my Windows (8.1) Defender and Malwarebytes and in the last couple of weeks Malwarebytes coughs up a PUP called "PlayThruPlayer" that is shown in the registry. I have looked for this player in my installed progs list but cant find it at all.

Any info to find this would be great if anyone can help.

Harrier:

I found this link which might help you.

Please note that Forum rules prohibit actively working in this particular Forum on malware removal issues.

It might be wiser to post in the Malware Removal Help Forum to ensure that there is nothing else lurking on your hard drive. Only fully qualified malware removal experts are permitted to respond there (not me), so you will obtain expert help.

To expedite the process, you might want to attach the required logs, as described in this link.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Regards,

-Phil

Hello and :welcome: :

Yes, as @garioch7 mentioned, we are not permitted to work on possible malware-related issues here in this section of the forum.

Such work is conducted in a special forum area reserved for that purpose, or at the help desk. And

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you might want to please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.

A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue - the helper will guide you through scanning, cleanup and repair.

Thanks,

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction and sorry for posting out of place.

I did a scan with AdwCleaner and it coughed up a few registry type errors which it cleaned. The original PUP detected yesterday was already quarantined and didn't show today.

As for now, I don't see any issues but if they should show again, I will take the matter up again..... Thank You !!
