Hey there.

Awhile ago you guys put imgur.com on a block list, I added it to the exclusions and yet MWB still blocks it. Is there a way to get around this without having to turn off "Malicious website protection"?

Also on the exclusion list is Smite's launcher (which is still blocked at times) and War Thunder's launcher (which also comes up blocked).

Hi:

AFAIK the Imgur issue was resolved many weeks ago.

I just now tried the site and did not get a block.

Having said that, the best place to report possible false positive IP blocks would be in the Website F/P sub-forum HERE. :)

Before doing so, I suggest reading the pinned topic at the top of the forum, for advice on the information (URL, IP address, etc.) to include in your post in order to expedite the review.

Thanks,

Hey there Daledoc. I was actually brought here by what I think is a Malewarebytes employee: https://www.reddit.com/r/Malwarebytes/comments/3qbw4r/mwb_is_still_blocking_imgur_ive_tried_everything/cwf2waq

As you can see from that link, I'm not the only one still having this issue.

I know the imgur thing is a malware bytes issue because it's blocked with Malicious website protection on, and it works with it off.

But I'll recreate this topic in the "false positive IP blocks" subforum.

Hi:

I'm able to load Imgur.com just fine in Firefox 42 (with ABP and NS), with no MBAM IP block.

So I don't think the main page is blocked by MBAM at this time.

Perhaps it's an ad or other content that is triggering the block??

Ennywho, please include both the URL and IP being blocked (+/- a snippet of your MBAM Protection log) in your post over in the website blocking section.

The team will review the info and advise you. :)

Thanks,

I am also getting random imgur links blocked (connection refused), with no alerts from Malwarebytes. Disabling web protection re-enables the links. This is extremely frustrating.

I've entered *.imgur.com, i.imgur.com, s.imgur.com and imgur.com on the exclusions list previously, but it does nothing.

On a hunch, I added https://*.imgur.com which seems to work.

Hello and welcome:

I am also getting random imgur links blocked (connection refused),

Then it sounds as if MBAM is doing its job of blocking bad content or ads on the Imgur site.
If you can reach Imgur.com (as I can), then the main site is not being blocked.

with no alerts from Malwarebytes.

Then the blocks likely aren't coming from MBAM.
MBAM throws up a popup notification from the system tray icon when it blocks an IP/domain.
You can check your MBAM Protection logs to see what it is blocking.
If the blocks are being generated from MBAM they will be in the Protection logs.

Disabling web protection re-enables the links.

Then it sounds as if you are allowing your browser to access IPs that MBAM is blocking for a reason.
That will increase the likelihood of malware infection.
Please recall that the original MBAM block of Imgur.com was because of a severe security risk.
There may still be bad content there for which the block is fully appropriate.

This is extremely frustrating.
I've entered *.imgur.com, i.imgur.com, s.imgur.com and imgur.com on the exclusions list previously, but it does nothing.

That is a risky way to do it.
A much safer strategy would be to proceed with the advice offered to the OP, as we don't work on False Positives here in this section of the forum:
