High CPU usage for Non-administrative account

Been a premium customer for a few years and most of the time I've been foolishly running as a super user.  But of late I've broken my bad habits and have started using a standard user account.

My problem is that the MBAM service sucks up a single core ( 12% on my 8-core AMD 8370) or 25% on my quad core PC when running as non-administrator.  Switching to my super user acccount I have no problem.  Switching back to the original user via logging off and the cpu usage is there again.

This has been a problem since I started running non-admin about 3 months ago.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm running the lastest version with updates with:

Windows 8.1 ( all updates)

ASROCK Fatality 1 970

AMD 8370 octo-core

8 GB memory

Samsung 256 GB SSD  850Pro

Nvidia GeForce 970

Hello dmitche3 and :welcome:

Your post describes a persistent process that can not be dealt with in this subforum.

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and have one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

If you would like to get off to a very fast start, the Malware Removal Experts would appreciate it if you would also attach (not copy/paste) both the FRST.txt and the Addition.txt output diagnostic reports from only Log Set 1 into your new topic. Please do not tick, nor untick, any pre-configured FRST categories.

Thank you.

Thank you.  I'll look at the links that you included.

Just to update this entry.  It was not a virus.  MBAM needed to be reinstalled after running the MBAM clean uninstaller.  Sped everything up 10 fold under admin and non-admin accounts.  I hadn't noticed because I had done a MOBO, CPU, and video card upgrade which were significant changes.
