Hello.

I have just solved what was causing problems for me and it was very easy to fix...what...4-5 months of relentless torture (probably more) was causing me.  I had the EXACT same problem as described in a previous post from a year ago here https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/153898-malwarebytes-incompatible-with-mobile-dongle/

I would all sorts of errors from RADS, DNS fails,  ERR name not resolved etc

Although I don't use a USB, I'm currently using Wifi from a router.  I thought for the longest time it had to be the stupid korean company just messing around and blocking everything us soldiers here could look and use on the internet (stationed in south korea)  but I was wrong.  I was using a VPN (HSS) to access what I couldn't, which was basically everything.  Very annoying for gaming or simple use of webrowsing.

I tried everything from setting different exclusions to changing ivp4 and 6 to different dns ips and what not and even other things I cant even remember.  I googled so many different ways to try and solve my problem until now when I found this forum post and I read a comment by AdvancedSetup - Root admin.

Thank you.  Problem was solved.  All I had to do was undo website protection and I can freely surf the internet without my VPN, and also connect to all my games like steam...Lol..anything with ease.  This has been such a headache and now its over.  Hope others can see this too.

^_^

Hello and :welcome: :

Sorry to hear about your web surfing issues with MBAM website protection enabled.

Yes, there are a few users with issues with certain wifi dongles -- the dev/QA teams are aware and are working on a solution.

This is NOT a common problem, but it's certainly an issue for those users.

For the record, if you are not using a wifi dongle, then your problem is not likely to be quite the same as that in the forum thread you mentioned.

Hundreds of thousands (millions?) of users (myself included) use wifi routers with MBAM Premium with no issues at all. :)

Moreover, your "workaround" to disable malicious website protection is NOT an advisable solution. :excl:

Disabling a key component of MBAM Premium's real-time protection significantly reduces one's protection and creates security vulnerabilities. :excl:

Your problem could be as simple as disabling a certain setting in one of your installed programs (related to your network card) or updating a driver or adjusting firewall settings, for a few examples.

And we would be happy to help you to resolve the issue, so that you do not have to disable MBAM website protection.

If you would like help, please follow the steps in this pinned topic and then please attach all 3 diagnostic logs to your next reply here: Diagnostic Logs

The logs may well point to a straightforward solution. :)

Thank you,

I see you have a Qualcomm Atheros Killer network card. There is a conflict with that card and Malwarebytes. But there is a fix now. You can try that to see if it solves your issue if you like.

Try disabling the setting for "Enable Bandwidth Control" in Killer Network Manager.

Please let us know if that resolves the issue with internet blocking.

Another way of doing it....

This is a simple fix and has worked for folks with the Killer e2200:

For Windows 7:

  • Navigate to Start --> Control Panel
  • Click Network and Internet then Network and Sharing Center
  • Click Change Adaptor Settings
  • Right-click the Killer wireless connection and select Properties
  • Under the Networking Tab, uncheck Qualcomm Atheros Bandwidth Control
  • Click OK
  • Reboot

This resolved the conflict for most.

Update on this issue:

Just wanted to give you (and any others who may be experiencing this issue) another update. We've tested the latest drivers released by Rivet Networks (makers of the Killer networking products) and are happy to confirm that they've implemented a fix so that you can now use both Malwarebytes Web Protection and Killer Network Manager's Bandwidth Control alongside each other with no issues.

You can download the latest Killer drivers from this site.

We appreciated your patience as we worked toward a solution here!

Hi:

Thanks for the logs.

Yes, as I suspected here:

@Porthos has advised the "fix" for this issue with this network card:

I see you have a Qualcomm Atheros Killer network card. There is a conflict with that card and Malwarebytes. But there is a fix now. You can try that to see if it solves your issue if you like.

Please also refer to the quoted post by the MBAM Senior Technical Product Manager, @bdubrow, regarding the new drivers.

Disabling the KNM Bandwidth Control setting or installing the new drivers has fixed the issue for nearly everyone who reported it on this particular hardware setup.

If it is does NOT fix it, then something else might be going on which will require a deeper look at the system.

You do have a ton of items in Quarantine, and it looks as if you haven't done a proper CLEAN reinstall of MBAM (using the removal tool) in quite some time.

Either of those could also be causing issues.

>>So, please let us know if @Porthos's suggestions work.  If not, we will go from there.

Thanks,

P.S. Thanks, @Porthos.
