I'm not sure where best to post this question - apologies if this is the wrong section. I was making a back-up copy on an external drive of some files from my (Vista) PC. One won't copy. It is a keygen file. Windows Vista tells me I can't copy it because I don't own it. I have gone through the taking ownership palaver and I have tried disabling UAC. I've also done chkdsk /f on the resident drive. Still can't copy it. So then I virus checked it. AVG 2013 says it has a virus (Heim32). Malwarebytes Anti Malware does not pick this up (it's quite an old file by the way, so it's not as if it wouldn't be in everyone's definition file yet). I wondered about it being a false positive and wanted to check it online at Virus Total (which checks a file against 40 or so different anti-virus engines). But Vista won't let me upload it - says I don't own it. Also, the PC always hesitates when I try to get a handle on the file (left click or right click). So why can I not copy or upload this file? In order to try upload it to here, I have connected the hard drive of my PC to another operating system (W2K) in order to copy the file. The inability to copy it in Vista could therefore be related to Vista or to AVG 2013. It's weird behaviour though, and I'd like to understand what's causing it.

On this site I have a further problem: your uploader says I'm not permitted "to upload this kind of file". So in the end, I haven't attached it.

I'm sorry, but we won't be able to assist you with that here.

Please refer to the Piracy Policy.

Thanks for your understanding,
