Rootkit drivers fail to load?

Recommended Posts

I woke up this AM to find that my computer had rebooted (it does this sometime when McAffee updates) and there was a warning box up that said that my Malwarebytes rootkit drivers didn't load properly (not sure if this box was initiated by a Malwarebytes update or simply because my computer rebooted) and it also said that one cause of the rootkit drivers not installing was that I was possibly infected WITH a rootkit.  It told me to reboot and I did, and I get the same box.  It asked if I wanted to continue to scan with "scan rootkits" disabled.

The thing that concerns me is that my hard drive seems to be "crackling" an awful lot as if it is doing something.  I don't see any process in Task Manager that is using a lot of resources though.

Can you please give me some information on this rootkit driver issue and if you think I may be infected with something?

Thanks

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes :)

Let's try this first.... (the logs may help with trying to figure out if perhaps your hard drive is failing)

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,
