BSOD from Laurence

Recommended Posts

I attach one zipped file, however, the cmd.exe failed to run and returned:

"Report generated 13-11-15

Error

An error occured whilst trying to generate the report

The system cannot find the path specified"

I am running in safe mode presently to stop crashes, so should I reboot and run the file again, since it suggests to me the path is presently turned off?

Crashes and BSOD have happened on an ad-hoc basis. Today Desktop Manager crashed and a BSOD turned up.

Malewarebytes has been run and is clear - premium member, and table is up to date.

Many thanks.

Out of 5 memory dumps there were 4 different BSOD  (aka STOP or BugCheck) error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things (the list is not in any sort of order):
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.htmlor http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html ).

Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html
I'd start with the hard drive diagnostics as there's some mention of file system drivers in the BSOD's.

Please be sure that you have the latest updates for the system from the manufacturer's website.

The Zealsoft Studio drivers date from 2002 and may not be compatible with this system.

Here's the link for it:

http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=zntport.sys

Also, MalwareBytes appears in each of the memory dumps.  As such I have to wonder if there's a driver on the system that's not compatible with it.
As an experiment, uninstall MalwareBytes and see if that stops the crashes.  If it does, post back and we'll have you run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html
