You must be connected to the internet to activate your license

Recommended Posts

I am trying to activate my Anti Malware Premium license and I am getting msg: You must be connected to the internet to activate your Malwarebytes Anti Malware Premium license. I am using my browser and email and the program even updated today, so internet connection is not an issue. I restarted my computer to no avail. I am running ESET Smart Security 8. Anyone with an answer?

You have more than one Antivirus program running at the same time, this can cause conflicts. You should pick one and remove the other. In your case I would probably remove MSE.

AV: Microsoft Security Essentials (Enabled - Up to date) {641105E6-77ED-3F35-A304-765193BCB75F}

AV: ESET Smart Security 8.0 (Enabled - Up to date) {19259FAE-8396-A113-46DB-15B0E7DFA289}

Try and temporarily disable them and then see if you can activate your Malwarebytes. (Also make sure your firewall is not blocking Malwarebytes)

Are you a home user?   On a home network?  or perhaps, are you on a corporate network ?

Which firewall exactly did you disable?   Please advise.  Then kindly insure that firewall is back on.

If this was the Eset firewall, kindly advise.

speaking of ESET, it is highly good idea to make trust settings adjustments there.

In Eset, the Trusted applications ( whitelist) may be added by going to the Setup options section in the program;
then to Computer >>Antivirus and asntispyware >> **Exclusions by path**

there you may enter the path to our Anti-Malware

I suggest putting in trust settings, as follows:
Please "exclude" (i.e., put Trust settings) for the following MBAM exe files within your Antivirus Software :

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in "Windows Firewall" you'll need to exclude them from it as well

For 32-bit Windows Vista or Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 or Windows XP:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 8, 8.1, 10:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you may  need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well
