Got PUPs that won't go away

I use Avast internet security and Malwarebytes. I recently installed FileZilla for school and the installer installed some unwanted programs and after I uninstalled those, I keep getting positives in Malwarebytes... I click remove after the scan and I restart... but after I restart and scan again, they're back...

Before we start please read and note the following:

• We're primarily oriented on malware removal here, so you must know that some issues just cannot be solved and you must be prepared for this. Some tools we use here will remove your browser search history, so backup your important links and all the files whose loss is unacceptable.
• Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
• Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time. Keep in mind that private life gets in the way too. Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
• Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
• Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a More reply options button, that gives you Upload Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
• Always execute my instructions in given order. If for some reason you cannot completely follow one instruction, inform me about that.
• Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
• If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

I can't foresee everything, so if anything not covered in my instructions happens, please stop and inform me!

We won't support any piracy.

That being told, if any evidence of illegal OS, software, cracks/keygens or any other will be revealed, any further assistance will be suspended. If you are aware that there is this kind of stuff on your machine, remove it before proceeding!

The same applies to any use of P2P software: uTorrent, BitTorrent, Vuze, Kazaa, Ares... We don't provide any help for P2P, except for their removal. All P2P software has to be uninstalled or at least fully disabled before proceeding!

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.

Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

• Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
• Press Scan button.
• It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.

Please download JRT by Thisisu and save the file to your desktop.
Temporary disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here.

• Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
• Follow the prompts and let this process run uninterrupted.
• This scan can take a while, depending on your System specs.
• Upon completion, a log (JRT.txt) will open on your desktop.

Please include the contents of that file in your reply.
 
Do not forget to re-enable your previously switched off protection software!
Please also manually reboot your machine after this procedure.

yes I told mbam to remove the quarantined pups everytime, and then mbam would ask to restart. After the restart I would scan again and the same pups would be back...

 

I ran the JRT but it came back blank. No txt appears on mydesktop where it says it's saved and when I save as to something else on my desktop, it does not appear... The txt file that opens after the scan it blank though, I just copied and pasted it here

Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
 
Please re-run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware as Administrator.

• First of all, select update.
• Once updated, click the Settings tab, in the left panel choose Detection & Protection and tick Scan for rootkits.
• In the same tab, under PUP and PUM detections make sure it is set to Treat detections as malware
• Click the Scan tab, choose Threat Scan is checked and click Start Scan.
• If threats are detected, click the Apply Actions button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.
• Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the History tab.
• Click Application Logs and double-click the newest Scan Log.
• At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.

Save the file to your desktop and upload your next reply.

Ok I ran as an admin and removed + rebooted

Well I ran mbam as an admin in that last post from my user account and in the log it said it was not run as an admin. It did find the same 10 it usually does and I told it to remove them. I then logged into my admin account and ran mbam from there and in the log it says it was run as an admin. (I don't see why mbam would behave differently from running AS admin from user account vs running on admin account) The scan on the admin account found the same it usually does, I told it to remove them and I'm scanning again (under my admin account again).

After the scan under the admin account nothing showed up, so it appears everything is gone. Do you know why scanning under a user account the pups were discovered but not completely removed?

It is pretty simple to explain. MalwareBytes needs admin privileges to remove threats.

That makes sense, some of the pups had registry keys and users can't modify the registry... Well it seems the pups are gone. I scanned last night again before sleep and just now... Nothing was detected. Appears everything is good... Thank you much... Now I know/realize to remove I need to run as admin...

Since there are no more problems, we can declare this PC clean

Now, we can proceed with post-cleanup procedures. Let's remove my tools and create a new, non infected restore point concurrently deleting old ones.

Step 1. - Creation of system restore point and tools removal.

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.

• Run the tool by right click on the icon and Run as administrator option.
• Make sure that these ones are checked:
  • Remove disinfection tools
  • Purge system restore
  • Reset system settings
• Push Run and wait until the tool completes his work.
• All tools we used should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt). I don't need it for review.

Tool deletes old system restore points and creates a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

Step 2. - Tips and tricks to keep your computer clean, safe and in a good shape.

• Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (paid version highly recommended) - to scan your system from time to time in search for malware.
• Malwarebytes' Anti-Exploit - to prevent plenty of mostly exploited vulnerabilities.
• McShield - to prevent infections spread by removable media.
• Unchecky - to prevent from installing additional foistware, implemented in legitimate installations.
• Adblock - to surf the web without annoying ads!
• Qualys BrowserCheck - cloud service that scans your browsers and plugins to see if they’re all up-to-date.
