Looking inside the Malwarebytes folder in ProgramData, I find 2 additional folders each titled Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (one folder has an apostrophe after the "s" in Malwarebytes - probably insignificant).

One folder contains numerous files/folders and the other only 2 (Quarantine folder and mbam-setup.exe.).  I have included screenshots of the contents of both folders.  My question is can the smaller folder with two files be deleted?

Hi:

Hmmmmmmmm, well, according to your screenshots, you have the setup file in the ProgramData folder for both versions.

That seems odd.

I just checked on my own box, and I do not see the setup file in that folder (I save my setup files in my downloads folder).

I'm no expert & I could be missing something, but I don't know how it would have ended up there unless you saved it there???

Perhaps Windows/your browser was configured to save downloads to that folder for some reason?

Perhaps a Malwarebytes staff person can shed some light on that.

In any event, if you haven't ever done so, you might want to perform a CLEAN reinstall at some point, using the mbam-clean removal tool, as explained here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

I'm not 100% certain that the current removal tool process will remove the leftover version 1.x folders (with the apostrophe), but AFAIK they can be safely deleted manually.

Feel free to post back if you need more help.

Cheers,
