Well we're two then, last time I played League was probably a few months ago, but I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to get back into Draven :P And I heard a lot about Heroes of the Storm but never played it. Is the game free or paid again? First time I saw it, it sparked my interest, but the reviews were saying to give it some more time to become better since it still had flaws.

I like Heroes more than LOL at this point, less toxic people and the variety in maps

I think that's why I left LoL, the community was way too toxic. Once, the League of Legends Facebook page asked the users "Describe League of Legends in 3 words", the top comment with over 10,000 likes was "Worst. Community. Ever." I realized how true these 3 words were and left a week after I think :P I'll check out Heroes of the Storm and see if it it's worth it. Not sure I'll be able to 1v1 you since I never played it before, you'll have to wait a bit :P

I played World of Warcraft for months before Blizzard did the raid on the private servers, closing all of them. I was one of the most popular one and left after that, because I'm not really attracted to the idea of paying per month to play a game. I played the real game for a month with my bestfriend, we got our Human Paladins to level 40 and then stopped because we were bored. Also I know it's really a bad argument, but I almost consider World of Warcraft retro-gaming now with these graphics :P My MMORPG of choice is Guild Wars and will always be!

BUT, I wouldn't mind playing World of Warcraft if you pay for me and help me get into it of course

I played world of warcraft for a number of years, I haven't played in a couple of years.

I will note that you can now pay for your monthly subscription with in game currency, so thats always nice.

Yes, it was brought in recently where players could buy a WOW Token which gives 30 days game play then list it on the Auction House for other players to buy with in-game gold. This feature was to help people that struggle earning in-game gold (not that it's difficult). I believe the figure is 15K game gold for 30 day tokens. If memory serves me right, the tokens are a fixed price on the Auction House so players don't get exploited.

I personally never bought a token as I subscribe (£10 a month) which is not a lot considering what's on offer and any other game would cost around £25-40 and when complete (a few hours) is generally discarded for another.

Heroes of the Storm is free to play, you just pay for cosmetics like LOL.

World of Tanks (and may other 'Free to Play' games) have the ''Pay to Win' and cosmetic features however it's easy to spend more than a subscription based online game when you are constantly faced with players who live, breathe and spend a fortune on their characters/accounts to get the upper edge. I am not saying it's impossible to compete with them, just that it takes a lot longer to build up your characters/accounts although it increases the frustration when faced with these hardened players.

"Pay to Win" games are the worse. Diablo III started like that with the real life auction house, even though some people made a lot of money out of it, some of them spent a lot to be better than anyone else. Not that it mattered a lot since there was no real PVP at that time, but if it were still true today, there would be a lot of users going around with mad gear, kicking everyone's else butt in PVP just because they paid a few extra bucks.

I don't know how I feel to pay montly for a game, when I don't know how much time I'll spend on it :P Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy interested me at first, but after seeing that they were subscription based like WoW, it turned me off a bit. But now that they aren't anymore (which means, you just have to buy the game and that's it), they became more interesting, although they are said to be quite dead already.

Such is the deal with major online games that eventually go free to play. Coders move on and company funds dry up so there is no longer worthwhile new content to keep the gamers interested. Generally only the hardline fans stick around but they too eventually move on. This is one reason WOW has had so much success because the subscribers keep the game alive and fun to play.

I look at it this way, my £10 subscription works out around 25p per day. For that 25p I can (If I wanted) play from 24 hours. No-where else would you get this level of entertainment for so little a cost! Even if I manage to squeeze in an hour of an evening and a few hours during the weekend, or the equivilent of say 20-30 hours a month, it's still cheap and money well spent.

Footnote: I don't work for Blizzard or get any funds from new subscribers. Maybe I should consider that, with the well sold pitch above ;) To be honest, the game is worth the small cost. And if I don't have time or another activity takes my interest, I can close my subscription and re-activate it at a later date then carry on with where I left off. I have done this a few times over the past years of playing WOW.

Good points :P I also feel that it's just way too late for me to get into WoW. Like on top of buying all the expansions (which would cost me a whooping $150-200 at once I guess) I won't know where to start at and where to go to. I wouldn't mind playing WoW I guess if I was playing with friends and we were creating our characters and progressing together. That's how me and my bestfriend did it back then and it was enjoyable :)

ArenaNet is doing that since Guild Wars. There's events every weekend and they are rolling out "Storyline Events" every 2 weeks (now they stopped until HoT but they rolled out a lot of events to prepare for the expansion, and right now they are doing the Halloween Events). I'm honestly surprised to see how much content ArenaNet rolls out when Guild Wars was free, and Guild Wars 2 was paid (the core game), but now it's free and all you have to buy is the expansion. Like they get no money from subscribers or else, but yet manage to release massive new content weekly without DLC or else. Props :P
