Malwarebytes Offline Updates - MBAM-Rules.exe

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Here's the problem :

I am configurating a few workstations that will be almost off-network due to firewall rules.  I still need the MalwareBytes updates to get installed but with no internet connectivity.  We also don't have a malwarebyte management server.

I noticed that we can get the offline updates with the file MBAM-rules.exe.

Can you point or give a link where a day to day version is available ?  There seems to have a couple version online and not always up to date.  I know you will say, it won't be as up-to-date as the version updating on the internet...

I would like to code an app that would run on a proxy machine that would update its clients this way...

1- It would download the latest MBAM-rules.exe ( Why is it not a file that simply give you the latest updates )

2- Run it with /verysilent switch

3- Take the definition files from %SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\Malwarebytes and upload them to the workstation thru FTPS over TLS  ( Running on the machine that need to be updated )

If there is an easier way, help would be appreciated.

Thank you !

My understanding is that MBAM-Offlibne Updates is updated weekly on Fridays.
The package contains Signature Installers for the v1.x and for the v2.x families.

We also don't have a malwarebyte management server.

If "we" is a business environment I suggest reviewing the MBAM EULA and getting assistance in the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Business sub-forum.

Yes it is.  For the moment we don't have many licenses yet ( only 3 for testing purposes )  But this number will grow to a maximum of ~100.

I found the link http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam_rulesthat allow to download the latest zip... i might be able to code something for some automatic update of our workstations with this.

Then you might want to contact Business Support, as they are best able to help with technical, licensing and other issues in that environment. :)

Again, as Dave suggested, I would check with Business support, as that sort of coding ***might*** be a EULA violation.

Thanks,

If that can be of any help to someone... I contacted the business support and there is no problem coding something out to update our workstations with no internet.  They provided a tool called mbam-updade-creator that allow to get fresh updates ( With command-line support ).

With this tool you obtain a exe file that you can run silently on the workstation running malwarebytes ( /silent )
