.jpeglib.dll being blocked so Paint Shop Pro won't run

I'm using an old graphics program Paint Shop Pro 7 which, though ancient, worked perfectly until I restarted my computer this afternoon. At that point I got the error message "The program can't start because JPEGLib.dll is missing from your computer." So I uninstalled and tried to reinstall the program. It appears it's not running because Malwarebytes is seeing jpeglib.dll as a threat and blocking it (see attached images).

 

Can I get instructions on how to resolve this? I realize it's an old program, but it does what I need it to do and I'd prefer to continue to use something that I'm familiar with and for which I have already paid.

Hello,

• Download the MBAM-Check tool from this page.
• Run the MBAM-Check tool.
• A black command prompt window will open briefly, then close. Afterwards a log file will open.
• A new log file, CheckResults.txt, will be created on your desktop.

Once the CheckResults.txt file is created, please attach it here.

When I ran a manual scan this evening I had the exact same Jpeglib.dll file flagged as malware as the OP did.

I have added this file to the exceptions list so hopefully Malwarebytes will skip it on the next scan.

As the OP has stated, Paint Shop Pro will NOT run without this file. I have been running Paint Shop Pro 6 for many years and this dll file has always been part of the program.

 

I exported the scan log (PaintShopProMalwarebytes.txt) and will attach that. I also ran the MBAM-Check tool that was recommended and will attach (CheckResults.txt) that as well. But I know for a fact this Jpeglib.dll file is safe and always has been. It has not been changed or altered since it was installed on this Win7 machine back in Dec 2013.

_{Same here. I did a scan two days ago (updated first), and had no threats. Updated a while ago, and did a new scan. This one reported jpeglib.dll as being a threat. Well, I know it's not, so I ignored it.}

I got this same detection just now with Paint Shop Pro 5. I'll be making an exception.

 

I was using PSP5 yesterday almost all day and no issues and no detections.

I have the same problem. Been using PSP 7 since 2003 with no problems until now. Full scan reveals nothing but jpeglib.dll is being blocked. PSP has been almost in daily use up till today.

running PSP 7 from the release date, also my installation didn't run this morning: Oct 5, 2015

 

Just solved adding an exception for the specific file in the "Settings"/"Malware exclusions" window.

Reinstalling from the original CD-Rom didn't solved, the Jpeglib.dll was blocked anyway.

I simply restored the file and added an exception - all is now well again.

I had to use the pmarogram last night, so I temporarily turned off Malwarebytes to re-install the program, then made an exception for it.

For what it's worth, I thought I'd mention that this message appeared the very next time I tried to launch Paint Shop Pro (I have version 7) after installing an Adobe Flash Player update.

 

Coincidentally, my Dreamweaver just began stating that it is "Unable to find files in Configuration/Behaviors/Events.  No behaviors will be available. Please reinstall the application."  I'm getting nervous...

Hi. I am having the same issue with Paint Shop Pro 7.

I turned off Malwarebytes and uninstalled/reinstalled and it was working fine. Until now, it just blocked it again.

Now, my problem is I extremely computer dumb and I don't know how to make an exception. lol

 

Google said:

 

1. Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
2. Click the Ignore List tab.
3. Click Add.
4. Navigate to the file or folder you wish to ignore.
5. Click the file or folder to select it, then click OK.

 

My first dumb question is, if this correct, do I add it right now or uninstall/reinstall first? Second dumb question, where do I find the JPEGLib.dll file?
