No internet connection after running Malwarebytes (newbie)

Recommended Posts

Hi, I did some Google searching after experiencing this issue which led me to these forums, where I saw many users suffering from the same problem.

I'm running a brand new (2 weeks old) PC running Windows 10. I saw a couple of videos and recommendations of Malwarebytes and decided to install it. After performing the first scan (I wasn't trying to get rid of any particular malware, just looking to see if it found anything), it found a couple of malware, I clicked remove.

Minutes later, I tried to use the internet (I use Chrome), and I cannot connect to any web site. It won't load anything. I'm currently typing this from my Macbook Pro and I'm just looking for some help because it's driving me crazy.

Now I'm just looking for help on how to fix my internet.

P.S. I haven't owned a Windows PC in years (since the XP days) so I can barely make my way around technical system settings. Please go easy on me. :)

Hello and :welcome: :

Certain types of malware (and the removal thereof) can sometimes break connectivity, necessitating repair.

We are not permitted to work on possible malware-related issues here in this section of the forum.
Such work is conducted in a special forum area reserved for that purpose, or at the help desk.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue - the helper will guide you through scanning, cleanup and repair.

Thanks,
