Help with installing Malwarebytes

I have used Malwarebytes regularly but now I suddenly get a message "Runtime error 38. Test property is read only".  I have tried to re-install Malwarebytes from the download, but it says I ahve to uninstal the software manually first.  I have tried to do that with ADD / REMOVE PROGRAMS, but then I get the message "Missing uninsooo.msg".  So I tried toi uninstal using Malwarebytes folder in Program Files, but I get the same message.  What on earth can I do ?  I am going round in circles, because I cannot re-install Malwarebytes without uninstalling the old copy manually but I cannot do that because there is evidently a file missing !

 

Pleasehelp because I am certain I have a virus somewhere.
