new download "unable to access update server"

I just downloaded malwarebytes and when I try to update, I get a message "unable to access update server". I've tried several times always with the same result. What is going on?

I have a "media center" computer with Malwarebytes.  When logged in with an account that is not an administrator, checking for a new version generates the "unable to access update server" message.  If I exit Malwarebytes, right click and "run as administrator" update function works as expected.
