3PC MBAM is no more - 1PC 1Y MBAM is now $24.95

Recommended Posts

What happened to the 3PC comsumer MBAM licence?

1PC 1Y MBAM is now $24.95

Even when trying to renew a 3PC License from the renew button in "My Account" you now get a form that says renew 1PC 1 Year for $24.95

As a reseller, I am very annoyed about these unannounced changes. Resellers should be first to be notified with full details and plenty of advance notice. This is a major change in the sales model.

Hi:

Until staff members have a chance to respond (and they will correct me if I am wrong), AFAIK, resellers WERE notified in advance.

More information (targeted mostly to end users) here: What does the recent price change to some Malwarebytes products mean to me?

Users may now purchase up to 10 licenses at a single transaction. $24.95 is for the first license. There is a discount for the 2nd--10th licenses.

Thank you,

Reseller here, as well.  We recieved no notification, either. I actually came here to see if I could find any information about it.  I've been a big fan of MBAM for a long time, but this is fairly upsetting.  This potentially leaves resellers with quotes/estimates only a day or two old that are no longer acurate, which leaves you with only two options: have an awkward convorsation with a customer and hope they're understanding or eat the cost increase.

It's not the price increase itself that's upsetting to me, it's the lack of commnuication.

I received my notification e-mail 8-5-2015. Re-seller also.

Since the cat is out of the bag.....

Greetings Valued Partner,

As a result of some feedback from our reseller community, there are some changes to our price sheet effective 9/1/2015.

Included is the price sheet with the new MSRP pricing.  Please note if fulfilling through distribution it will be necessary to reach out to the disti for pricing. Some of the changes and rationale are as follows:

Business:

  1. Fixed the pricing tier issue — When we tried to simplify this down (from 10 to 5 tiers) during the last price change, we inadvertently increased the gap between discount levels. We have now fixed this and added in additional tiers (increased from 5 to 8) to reduce this gap.
  2. Price standardization/rounding — we changed the cost from $30 to $29.95 as we have found this is accepted better (converts better). We also applied this to the INTL pricing given that this was hard to follow previously. This is now standardized.
  3. Inquiries for opportunities larger than 5000+ seats require a conversation with a Territory Manager for assistance.

Consumer:

  1. Price standardization/rounding — we changed the cost from $30 to $29.95 as we have found this is accepted better (converts better). We also applied this to the INTL pricing given that this was hard to follow previously. This is now standardized.
  2. 1 vs. 3 seats — we have decided to offer up 2 pricing options for Consumers — 1 seat and 3 seats. 1 seat will remain @ $24.95 but we have added the 3 seat option @ $39.95.

We apologize for the frequent changes this year and believe we are now at a solid point where further changes will be minimized.

The lack of commnuication is harder to take than the price increase. Although 60% price jump for 3PC is huge. I am going to have some unhappy renewal customers. I am already losing most renewals to the "My Account" renewal button.

Thanks for posting the email. I just looked again, and I did not receive that email.

I also just noticed that the buy button at the main web site has different pricing models than the one reference here

Existing licenses with "up to 3 PCs" are not supposed to be affected by the change.

See here

I currently have a subscription under the 1year/3PC model, how am I affected?Current subscribers will have their subscriptions grandfathered in to the new model, and are not affected by this change. Customers can continue to use their subscription for up to 3 PCs without being charged under this new pricing model. This new change only affects new purchases.

The Malwarebytes staff are aware of your concerns.

I will defer to them for further assistance.

Thank you again,

Hi Mike—

I’ve alerted our Sales team to your concerns.

As Porthos pointed out, we did attempt to provide all resellers with advance notice via email about 30 days ago, so not sure what happened in your case.  Definitely can understand how this could be quite a shock if it appeared to happen out of the blue though!

And I’m not sure why you’re seeing what you’re seeing with the various Renew and Purchase buttons.  I’ve just tested the Renew button on the MBAM My Account screen and it goes to a page with the 1 year/3-PC, $24.95 price.  So we’d need to take a look at the specific URL that you’re seeing in order to dig in deeper.  Same for the Buy Now button on website.  Could depend on where and how you’re clicking through, but I see the pricing that matches up with the KB article model. But bottom line here, the intention is that all renewals for subscription purchases should be grandfathered in at the 1 year/3-PC $24.95 price.

I’ll follow up with a PM here shortly as well…

Thanks,
