Self-protection module not a recommended setting?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at the settings of my MBAM Premium 2.1.8.1057 on my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit computer, and to my surprise, I saw that the Recommended Settings under Advanced did NOT include "Enable self-protection module" nor "Enable self-protection early start."  I have both of these settings checked.  Why are they not part of the recommended settings?  Is there a reason I should uncheck them?  (I have the feeling I should know the answer to this, but I don't, and a quick search of the forum's logfiles didn't answer my question.  Apologies in advance if the answer is staring me in the face.)

Thanks very much, Firefox, for your prompt and very helpful response.   The links you provided told me what I wanted to know, and I've now bookmarked them both.  I'm still a little surprised that a security feature like the self-protection module isn't on by default, but I guess if it caused problems for enough people, it's understandable that MBAM might not have it as part of the default settings.  I guess I'll leave it checked/enabled, along with the early start option.
