Is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware available for Linux/Ubuntu?

Recommended Posts

I did a search for the forum and what came up appeared to be unrelated.

I did find this:

"Malwarebytes Anti-Malware does not currently support non-Windows OS platform, such as Apple devices or any forms of Linux."  link

I believe that was from January of this year.

With Windows 10 being a privacy nightmare as well as using people's bandwidth and so forth I was thinking of, when a new computer will be purchased of getting Ubuntu as the OS. However MBAM is SUCH an outstanding system that I would very much feel UNprotected without it.

If it is not available currently for Ubuntu is there any plans for the near future?

Thank you.

Patrick

MBAM is now available for MAC OS X 10.7+

There is no Linux edition at present, and I couldn't comment on MB's plans so I'll let a moderator take that one.

While I feel it's somewhat short sided to think there is zero risk, Linux is vastly less targeted than the MS OS products, so your likely hood of getting infected is vastly reduced.

It's not always just the Linux box you're protecting... AV on servers is rarely protecting the server itself. And Linux desktop users tend to share files with Windows users, which if undetected as being a virus, could infect a Windows box elsewhere.

It's short sighted to also assume an antivirus is only protecting the box it's installed on, and that real time scanning is the only reason people install an AV.

Hello and welcome: :)

Well, use of the Consumer Malwarebytes products on servers isn't supported, anyway.

But perhaps the Malwarebytes staffers will have some additional feedback.

Thanks for your good suggestions,

P.S. For future suggestions, you might want to consider posting them in the forum area dedicated to that HERE.  That way, your ideas may be less likely to get "lost in the shuffle" here in the Support area and may be more likely to be spotted by the product developers. ;)   No worries, though.
