The Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Settings/Detection and Protections Options includes "Scan for Rootkits." Is this different from what is offered in the Anti-rootkit product?

 

The Anti-Malware Settings/ADVANCED SETTINGS shows "Enable Malicious Website Protection when Malwarebytes 

Anti-Malware starts." Is this different from what is covered by the Anti-Exploit product?

 

How are Threat Scan, Custom Scan, and Hyper Scan in the Automatic Scheduling settings different from each other? 

 

Under Threat Scan there is a Scan for Rootkit. Is this different from what is offered in the Anti-rootkit product?

The SCAN FOR ROOTKITS in Anti-Malware 2.x is the same as is available separately in the Anti-Rootkit product.

 

Anti-Exploit is a totally separate entity.  Anti-Malware blocks the "what" that you need to worry about, while Anti-Exploit blocks "how" it works.

Bottom line: MBAR Beta is a special tool designed only for use with expert assistance on a badly infected system, not for routine use by home computer users.

Entirely different means of protection in 2 different, complementary products.

MBAM protects against the "what", while MBAE protects against the "how" (with thanks to @gonzo for that most helpful nugget).

Threat scan is the recommended scan for most conditions.

Hyper (available only in Trial and Premium) would need to be followed by a Threat scan, if it were to detect anything.

Custom: a task better suited to your AV.
