Does MBAE Protect IE From The August Exploit On XP?

I've read that EMET does protect pc's from the vulnerability; but I really don't like using emet; & awhile back I uninstalled it & purchased a bunch of MBAE licenses, as MB was advertising at that time that MBAE was focusing on keeping XP safe.

Just curious if anyone knows the answer.

The specific exploit/vulnerability I'm asking about is 3088903 / Memory Corruption Vulnerability.

I NEVER use IE intentionally, but i know a lot of 3rd party programs (& windows) use it invisibly to connect to the internet.

No details or PoC code about this former zero-day. But if known exploitation techniques are being used, then most mitigation software available on the market will offer protection.

Although in general it is still advised to migrate from Windows XP to a later operating system.

Windows XP can be hardened by using Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Security to set the Internet Zone to HIGH security.  I prefer to set all four zones to HIGH security.  That should close down a lot of possibilities for exploits.

I have not yet observed any ill effects of doing this.  I have noticed that Bit Defender free AV needs the Internet Zone to be set to MEDIUM HIGH (or lower) to enable it to be installed and then for its GUI to work.  Consequently I do not use Bit Defender.
